John Ferreira – Executive Chairman
John was appointed as Executive Chairman of Bateman Engineering in October 2009. John brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the resources industry. He started his career in South Africa at Iscor (today Mittal Steel) as an engineer in training and joined Alusaf two years later. He held various positions up to Senior Manager Reduction before he joined Samancor Cr as General Manager at the Middelburg Ferrochrome Smelter. Three years later he was appointed as General Manager of Ferrometals, a position he held until he was promoted to Vice President in 2003.
John has a B Eng (Metallurgy) from the University of Pretoria and a Masters in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa.
Dag Cramer - Director
Dag is currently CEO of BSG Management Services Limited, which provides administrative and advisory services to the group of companies to which Global Minerals BV, the company controlling shareholder, belongs.
Between 1989 and 2001, he worked for Anglo American Corporation of South Africa. He joined as a management trainee and, after various assignments within predominately the finance division, was appointed Vice President and Head of Investment operations in 1996. In 1997 he was made the Treasurer of the group as a senior Vice President. In 2001 he was appointed Executive Vice President and transferred to Anglo American PLC with the responsibility for the group's Risk Management Operations.
Dag is a graduate of Lundsbergs skola and studied for a Masters of Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics.
Arnold Jordaan Matthee - Director
Arnold is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Bateman Engineered Technologies Strategic Business Unit of the Bateman Engineering Group. Prior to joining Bateman Engineering, he was Managing Director of Thyssen Krupp Materials Handling and a board member of Thyssen Krupp Engineering Pty Ltd, in South Africa. He was also previously General Manager of ABB Feralin Projects in South Africa.
Arnold holds a BSc Eng (Mech) degree and is a registered Professional Engineer.
David Michael Clark - Director
David is currently Director and Group Treasurer of BSG Resources Limited. He also holds various directorships of companies in the BSG Group. He has 20 years of experience in accounting and senior treasury functions. Prior to joining the BSG Group in March 2007 he was States Treasurer and Chief Officer of the Treasury and Resources Department in the Government of Guernsey. As such he was the senior finance and economic advisor to the Government.
David is a chartered accountant in the UK (ACA) and had a successful career in the accounting and audit profession in both Guernsey and the United Kingdom with KPMG and Deloitte.
Gregg Blackstock - Director
Gregg trained as a Chartered Accounted and started his career in finance at Barnard Jacobs Mellet Securities in Johannesburg in 2001. He held a number of senior finance roles before studying for a MBA at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he graduated with distinction in 2006. Gregg went on to assume a role on the Leveraged Finance desk at The Royal Bank of Scotland in London.
He progressed to the designation of Associate Director and assumed a role in Structured Finance, where he successfully originated numerous complex debt transactions. Gregg was appointed by BSG Management Services in 2009 to assist in providing management and advisory services to clients.
Francis (Frank) John Eagar - Director
Frank is a chartered accountant with a post graduate diploma in International Tax Law. He developed his career with audit firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in South Africa, focusing mainly on the industrial and mining sectors. His career includes 2 years at diversified miner, BHP Billiton, allowing for valuable international exposure to a diversified range of mineral assets, including copper, cobalt, coal, iron ore and aluminium. In January 2005 he joined BSG Resources in the finance division. Three years later he was appointed to a Business Development and Project Evaluation role. Frank has served on the Board of DEM Mining, a BSG Resources subsidiary operating in the DRC.
Frank is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and holds degrees from the University of Stellenbosch and the University of South Africa.
Johannes (Hans) Jacobus Meijer - Director
Hans is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Five Mounts Properties Holdings Limited, a company forming part of the BSG Group. He also holds various directorships of BSG Group companies. He is an expert in structuring and financing of real estate related transactions. Formerly an accountant with KPMG, he has had extensive experience in the auditing, financial reporting and consolidation of international companies.
Hans holds the following qualifications, Dutch Certified Auditor (RA) and Executive Master of Finance and Control (RC).
Sandra Merloni-Horemans - Director
Sandra provides in house corporate counsel to companies in the BSG Group. She has 20 years of experience in natural resources, real estate, capital markets and investment management companies. Having worked with the BSG Group since 1989, she has gained broad experience in the management of company administration at group level. She currently holds posts as director in several BSG Group companies.
