Development, front end and basic engineering are driven out of Global Centres of Excellence, which support Bateman's regional project delivery offices:
- Providing technology supply packages for conversion into overall projects, incorporating process engineering design and proprietary equipment definition.
- Identifying new industry and commodity needs for innovative new processes or equipment.

Hydrometallurgy
- Leaching processes and designs to process ore, concentrate and smelter mattes.
- Services and proprietary equipment as well as complete circuit packages for solvent extraction (SX), ion exchange (IX) and electrowinning (EW) sections of minerals and metals recovery plants.
- Design of sulphuric acid facilities that ensure compliance with international environmental regulations.
Pyrometallurgy
- Design and construction of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) furnaces.
- Full range of technologies for ore pre-treatment and preheating of feed material to recover waste energy, reduction of power consumption and facilitation of smelting of fine and lumpy ore; liquid-metal and slag-handling technologies; alloy solidification including granulation, lump production, casting and load-out systems; and clean and safe slag disposal.
Modular Plants
- Provision of modular process plants for prospecting, exploration, small-scale mining and mineral processing.
- Overcome problems encountered in erection and commissioning of processing facilities in remote and difficult locations, and significantly reduce engineering and construction times and capital cost.
- Suitable for wide range of deposits handling feed rates from 1 to 200 t/h.
- Suitable for processing wide range of commodities, from diamonds to coal, graphite, magnesite, andalusite, chromite and gold, copper, base metals and platinum.
